The Forster Flag, housed at the Concord Museum in Concord, Massachusetts, is a rare and significant artifact from the American Revolutionary War. Believed to have been carried by Captain Ebenezer Forster and his militia during the early skirmishes near Concord and Lexington in 1775, this flag symbolizes the colonists' defiance against British rule. Originally a British Red Ensign, its Union Jack was altered, transforming it into a powerful emblem of rebellion and independence. Originally double sided with 7 white stripes on one side and 6 on the reverse, this creative adaptation reflects the resourcefulness and determination of the American Revolutionaries as they transitioned from colonial subjects to freedom fighters. The Forster Flag remains a cherished historical relic, inspiring patriotism and connecting us to the struggles and triumphs of the nation’s founding.
