Inglefield Clips have traditionally been used in seagoing and nautical flag applications, speicifcally for quick change code signal flags while at sea. Also known as sister clips, these are somewhat of a throwback today, however clips are still eminently functional and nice traditional element on your flag.

An Inglefield clip (also called sister clip) is a quick-release, interlocking clip used primarily for hoisting signal flags on ships. It was invented by Lieutenant Edward Fitzmaurice Inglefield of the Royal Navy in the late 19th century. Common Uses include-Naval signaling: Especially for rapidly changing hoistable flag messages.-Yachts and tall ships: For dressing the ship with flag bunting.-Often used on ceremonial occasions like change of command, signal drills, or fleet reviews.-Fast and secure flag changes.-No tangling or knot-tying.Inglefield clips are still in use by many navies and maritime organizations worldwide.
